Susannah chats writer, performer and producer, Deborah Pearson. Innovation is central to her work, as is an interest in intimacy and narrative. She makes and tours solo pieces but also works collaboratively, and frequently works as a dramaturg for companies including Made in China and Action Hero. She is the first performer in the Frontier Series at Artists Repertory Theatre.

Susannah chats with Grant Byington who stars in Richard Bean’s internationally acclaimed One Man, Two Guvnors, which is now open at Lakewood Theatre. Songs by Grant Olding, the British comedy is based on an Italian play, The Servant of Two Masters by Carlo Goldini, and transports the classic conundrums of a harlequin hero from 1740s Florence to 1960s Brighton, keeping the age-old traditions of one of the most revered theatre forms—commedia dell’arte. It weaves together elements of improvisation, pantomime, stand-up comedy and music hall revue, and is a hilarious tapestry of wit, slapstick and intrigue.

Kevin Loomis; Coast to Coast! Pacific Northwest artists often find themselves gravitating to New York City. Kevin Loomis is one of those, he left Oregon ten years ago and has worked on incredible Broadway projects including Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark on Broadway! Hometown Broadway show stopping girl Shoshana Bean, will be in Portland in late October sharing her talent with the folks at Bridgetown Conservatory of Musical Theatre on October 29th, in a master class setting and at Staged! at The Arts Hub at Artists Repertory Theatre on November 1st in concert. She’s the mastermind behind Bad Reputation Productions, which will open The Lost Boys October 14th.  A member of several of the city’s top sketch groups, including the Aces and the Liberators, she's also the proprietress of the Siren Theater.  She's invited Loren Hoskins, aka Captain Bogg to join her tea time. 

 

Then, learn about the book Dead Feminists: Historic Heroines In Living Color, by Chandler O’Leary and Jessica Spring, which consists of a series of broadsides and stories of extraordinary, ordinary women.  The series features quotes by historical feminists, tied in with current political and social issues. You can see their work at 23 Sandy Gallery.
